Compunetix was proud to team with the Interactive Multimedia and Collaboration and Communications Alliance (IMCCA) along with additional corporate sponsors to facilitate the first annual Collaboration Week New York 2019, held February 25-27. This special industry gathering – the brainchild of IMCCA members David Danto (Event Chairperson ), Dr. S. Ann Earon (Program Chairperson) and Alliance President, Carol Zelkin – was modeled after other decentralized events held in NYC and featured a novel conference format.
Unlike a standard trade exhibition centrally hosted at a convention center or hotel, Collaboration Week New York 2019 was crafted by the IMCCA to be hosted by member organizations at venues around Manhattan. Attendees individually registered for specific sessions and the hosting organization such as Crestron, Cisco, Google, American Express and Oblong were responsible for the venue space and additional activities at that location such as receptions, meals or demonstrations.
Attendees gathered together at a designated locations to share a meal, listen to presentations, attend a panel discussion and discuss the future of electronic collaboration in the workplace. Each session was moderated by an industry professional and ranged over subjects such “Collaboration in an IoT World,” “Collaborate Securely and still meet User’s Needs,” “Software Apps versus Hardware Codecs,” “The Evolution of Ideation” and “Collaboration in the Cloud.”
One highlight of the week was an industry dinner at Arno’s restaurant in midtown to kick-off the week of activities and to honor Snore Kjesbu and Jason McGraw with Emerging Technology Fellowship awards. Jerry Pompa and Robert Haley represented Compunetix at this unique event.
The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, both in terms of the content and the format. Future IMCCA “Week” events are currently under consideration in additional locations such as Silicon Valley and Europe.
The IMCCA is a non-profit, technology neutral organization that focuses on multimedia and collaboration awareness for end users. This free to join alliance brings together manufacturers, consultants, users and other invested parties to collaborate on the future of the industry.
