A Day at CTIA

May 4th, 2009

After a very full couple of days at Elliot’s Future of Conferencing Workshop, the IX crew took a day to attend to the CTIA Wireless show being held at the LV Convention Center.

With our new CONTEX Connections smartphone application, we decided to take advantage of the opportunity and walk the exhibit hall, attend a keynote and investigate some tools and partners.

This time was very well spent and we were fortunate enough to see demos of upcoming devices, wi-max networks, deveice testing services and unquie new applications.

Ahh, Springtime in Berlin!

May 1st, 2009

And, no, I am not referring to the Mel Brooks movie.

I am talking collaboration industry trade events.  It’s March/April/May, and that always means the opportunity to get out of the office and hit the road.  We get to step out and sponsor a few events around the globe to meet with customers, talk about trends and happenings, and try and sniff out some new opportunities.

This Spring brought three, no really four, shows.

The first was the Telespan Future of Conferencing Workshop hosted by Elliot Gold and company at the Palace Station in Las Vegas. For those “in the know,” this annual industry get-together is THE place to be in March.  Industry movers, shakers, and c-level executives all gather for two days in Sin City to talk about the market, compare trends and discuss where things are headed.

This year’s workshop brought together over 130 of the conferencing industry’s brightest stars to network, listen to a collection of subject experts, and to discuss the future of our market. Featured presentations included “The State of the Industry,” “USF: How the Dust Settled,” “Preventing Fraud,” “Conferencing Event Management” and “Using Social Media to promote Brand and Extend Reach to New Customers.”

Compunetix was designated as a Hospitality Sponsor of this year’s conference and specifically provided a cocktail reception and networking session at the end of the first day. Additionally, Compunetix participated in the Workshop’s first ever Technology Sandbox™ and setup a CONTEX Solutions table with product information, live demonstrations and a see-through CONTEX Summit™ Media Processor.

Jerry at Telespan Vegas 2009

The highlight of the overall event, however, was Mr. Pompa’s presentation on mobility and its impact on conferencing. Jerry was joined on stage by Mark Dzwonczyk, president of Vello Conferencing, where they conducted a live demo of Vello’s outbound conference initiation application for Blackberry smart phones.

Compunetix Rewards Employee Voters

November 3rd, 2008

Compunetix is, once again, encouraging employees to “Get out the Vote.” in Monroeville, PA.  This program initially began in 2006 during the last general election, and it provides all employees who present evidence that they have voted with 4 hours of PTO (Paid Time Off).  All 400 employees of three Monroeville based businesses - Compunetix, Chorus Call and Compunetics - are eligible for the perk.

The non-partisan program for employees is not associated with any specific political dogma other than good citizenship. “We do not care whom they vote for, just that they vote,” Dr. Coraluppi, president of the three companies, explains. “We want to eliminate any barriers to the voting process.”

CONTEX Mobile Groups

September 26th, 2008

A new short (3 min) video is available that demonstrates the Compunetix CONTEX® Mobile Groups application.

For those of you new to the space, Mobile Groups is a java-based application for mobile handsets that allows you to leverage the phone’s internal directory to pull up, tag contacts and initiate a group call.  It makes multipoint conference calls a breeze, and enables group communication from a mobile device like no other solution.

This application can be ported for deployment on most any java-enabled handsets, and utilizes the mobile network’s GPRS (data) connection to a CONTEX media processor for hosting the collaboration call.

Take a moment to find out what all the fuss is about.
